- Taurino, Salice Salentino, Reserva, 1999, $13 ****1/2
(4.5 Stars) Very good & subtle red wine. Perfect dinner wine. Scents of black cherry, mint and fig coupled with evolved flavors and a long finish
- Cavalchina, Bardolino, Reserva, 2001, $10 ***
(3 Stars) Fruity, vibrant and somewhat 'gamey.' This northern Italian red is a nice change of pace in the $10 wine world. Rather light bodied with soft tannins.
- Lustau, Light Fino Sherry, Jarana, NV, $8 (1/2 bottle) ***
(3 Stars) Light, tangy and woody. An utterly dry Sherry that makes a unique aperitif wine. Scents of sea-salt, almond and wood. Long, crisp finish.
- Feudi Monaci, Salice Salentino, 2001, $8 *** (3 Stars) - Great value red wine. Perfect with pepperoni pizza or pasta in marinara sauce. Bold lively and fruity cherry and berry scents. Flavors are simple with noticeable tannins. A cheap and cheerful bargain.
- Boutari Moschofilero Mantinia White Wine, 2002, $13
** (2 Stars) - Muted, fairly nondescript white wine from Greece. Agreeable, but not much in the way of aroma or flavor. For twelve bucks, there are other white options with more character.
