Basic Juice Review

Carcehlo Tinto, 2003 ($8)

**** (4-Stars)

Medium, dusty red with hints of orange on the rim

Young & fruity scents of red cherry supported by subtle hints of meat, cedar and pepper

Medium-bodied with fairly mild tannins and a crisp finish

A great price for a wine that is unique as well as friendly with hearty winter meals

Monastrell, Also known as Mourvèdre, is a red grape that is used extensively in the Rhone valley and Spain. It has tough-to-describe characteristics of wild game, earth, pepper and bitter fruit. These qualities make it a nice match with roasted game (pheasant, duck, etc.).

Bodegas Agapito Rico of the Jumilla region of Spain makes a great & affordable example of Monastrell in all its gamey glory
